The inspiration for this project comes from one of the pioneers of cover design in Spain: Daniel Gil. His work managed to be different and change the traditional discipline, renewing the graphic and visual culture of the time. He worked for Alianza Editorial for twenty-five years, and this work was the highlight of his career, attracting the public to read with its striking covers.

The technique he uses is the visual metaphor, inspired by the feeling that the book leaves him after finishing it, so he plays with a more poetic and abstract sense. In a varied, elegant and geometric way, Gil uses all the analogical resources at his disposal: photography, collage and typography among others, maintaining a visual sense in all of them.

Fahrenheit 451: la temperatura a la que el papel se enciende y arde.
Taking into account his work, the cover to design is about Fahrenheit 451, a classic of literature that deals with a dystopian reality in which it is not allowed to read books, being the worst crime, since reading causes discord and suffering in society. Therefore, firefighters are dedicated to search for those criminals who still secretly possess books, to burn them and make them ashes.

The basic idea has been the critical thinking reduced to ashes, produced by the absence of reading in this society, which causes a herd of empty and manipulable minds.  From this idea began a totally analogical work that consisted of covering a wooden doll with words from magazines and newspapers to later burn its head.
After achieving the desired result, the next step was to design the covers, also taking into consideration Daniel Gil's compositional style.
